The head was cropped and cracked; the tail still dropped whole hops behind a ⋯, because that mark was left over from when the fit itself was hop-based. So one line carried two different claims about what was out of view, and the reader had to know which end they were reading to know which one they were being told. The trail is now one line read through a window, the shape every other path row that outgrows its lane already has (the node page's routes, the Message paths lanes, a trophy row under ←→): composed once at natural length, cropped at whichever edge the walk continues past, each cut wearing cut_mark — the chip sheared on its own half block, the faint … in arrow mode. Nothing is elided, so nothing says it is. ←→ slide by the app's own 8-cell step rather than a hop: hops were the old fit's unit, and a cropped line has no hop boundaries to land on. cut_from goes with them — the window covers the unscrolled case in the same six lines.
