Apache-2.0 does not require per-file headers, but a file lifted out of the tree carried no marking at all. One comment line, first (or right after a shebang), on every .py under meshterm/, tests/, packaging/ and scripts/, plus the extensionless SPI bridge; tests/test_spdx.py keeps a new file from landing without one. """Remote-admin TX-power optimization.
This tunes the transmit power of a *remote* node we have admin rights on — the node
sitting one hop before a chosen target — to maximize the signal the **target** receives
from it. We force a path (exactly like the trace tool), so every measurement exercises the
same admin-node→target link, and read the SNR the target reports at the end of that path.
Radio links are noisy and the real-world response is non-monotonic (too little power and
the target can't hear it; too much and its front end saturates), so the search is robust
by design:
1. A **coarse sweep** across the TX range, running several traces per level and scoring
each level by its trace success rate first and a *median* target SNR second.
2. A **local refine** filling in integer levels around the coarse winner.
3. A **verify** pass that re-measures the leading candidate with extra samples so a single
lucky (or unlucky) reading can't decide the optimum.
Selection is lexicographic — **reliability first, then SNR** — and on a near-tie in SNR it
prefers the *lower* TX power, since cranking power for a fraction of a dB only adds
interference and burns duty cycle. The chosen optimum is written back to the admin node
when ``apply`` is set (the whole point of the run is to leave it tuned).
