Each test docstring states the behaviour that the test proves, in the
simple present. No assertion message, test id, or other string literal
changed. Four statements now agree with the code: the Trace highlight
stays on the last row, a menu count, and two others.

MeshCore firmware sets its clock only forward: CMD_SET_DEVICE_TIME with an earlier time is answered ERR_CODE_ILLEGAL_ARG, which read as 'the device rejected the request as malformed'. Since 2026-09-24 the companion's clock has been ahead of this computer's (itself within 0.7 s of NTP), so every connect's sync was refused. set_clock now reads the radio's clock first: within a minute ahead is in sync and nothing is written; further ahead raises ClockAheadError, which says by how much and that a reboot resets it. The device layer also maps the firmware's refusal to that error, and the simulator's clock now only moves forward, like the firmware's.

A new "Set clock on connect" preference (Device group, off by default) has the
interactive session write the host time to the radio once per connection — at
launch, on a deferred connect, and after a reconnect, since a link drop is exactly
when a board without a real-time clock may have rebooted and lost the time. The
set runs in a background task off the connect path and reports only in the log,
with the drift it corrected; a refused write costs a warning line, never the
session. Scripted CLI runs never start the service, so a one-shot command that
only reads the radio never writes its clock.
The device-side step is the one the Device config screen's Sync clock action
already ran inline in apply_ops; it is lifted into services/clock_sync.set_clock
and the action and the service both call it.
