Recheck cached immutable paths before resetting the live table after raw I/O failure. Keep accepted RAM mutations, current jobs and save deadlines when reads recover; stronger source or publication uncertainty still forces full recovery. Use the existing recovery byte and a fixed scratch buffer, with no cache allocation or eviction.
Cover full-cache transient recovery, persistent I/O and checksum failures, nRF unread-scope restoration, active ESP jobs, real uncertain publication and unchanged lazy deadlines with sanitizer tests and restored-reset negative controls.
Do not classify legacy or page-name stat errors as unread payloads. Keep candidate contact files unchanged, retry source selection, and use bounded volatile operation if authority remains unknown. Cover legacy absence, downgrade leftovers, cleanup-time metadata recovery and persistent faults with actual-source sanitizer tests and restored-bug negative controls.
Verify fallback namespace moves before accepting publication or rollback. Reload readable contact images at a safe host boundary, discard only unreadable contact data after bounded retries, and permit volatile operation when storage cannot recover. Preserve unrelated stores and fail explicit durability requests truthfully.
Keep existing flash, RAM, OTA and capability limits by streaming nRF52 preferences through the validated wire table and sharing identical contact deadline resets. Add fault-injection, sanitizer, legacy-image parity and CLI lifecycle regressions.
Verify public images after every rename attempt, expose publication outcomes, and use an independent CRC32C fingerprint so valid IEEE-CRC-tailed images cannot mask a stale target. Preserve persistent formats and reject directories for empty images.
Reconcile uncertain migration journals before choosing filesystem authority. Preserve retained contact snapshots when page publication is unconfirmed without clearing dirty state or acknowledging the new page generation.
Add readback, rename, CRC-tail, migration reboot/quarantine, and snapshot eviction regressions. Keep complete RAK Full Companion within the unchanged OTA ceiling through equivalent code compaction, with no feature or validation cuts.
Port Meshtext settings to verified atomic nRF52 storage and use the existing radio RNG and hardware entropy. Keep the ExtraFS boundary, GPS, contacts, channel count and 8 KiB stack unchanged; omit unused library data to fit the image. Require linked codec and Companion transport evidence and build the real RAK Full profile in CI. Add configuration and storage-failure regression coverage.
Save an opt-in off/no/yes answer to private Am I lost questions from known
chat contacts. Keep reply traffic and ACK state bounded, preserve pending
user delivery, and expose the setting through local CLI and ESP32 WebConfig.
Retain compact STM32 application/filesystem boundaries, qualify the Tag BLE
queue allowance, and exercise saved-image compatibility and browser controls.
Fix stale room mailbox protocol dependencies in the ACL/route test fixtures.
Validation: ten Companion builds, sanitized production-path regressions,
preference fault/compatibility tests, browser tests, and 86 capacity/build
recipe checks passed. No live radio was flashed for this feature.
Reject truncated anonymous reply paths and advert metadata before copying,
while preserving timestamp-only empty-password logins. Limit room posting to
read-write/admin ACL roles, retain inbox frames until the requesting transport
accepts them, and lock raw LittleFS traversal against concurrent writes.
Separate ISR event generations from main-loop radio state. Confirm RX/TX IRQs,
detach concrete wrapper callbacks safely, and discard inconsistent LR2021 FIFO
snapshots before rearming. Preserve bridge RX frames through packet-pool
exhaustion and bound ESP-NOW retries and missing-callback recovery. Screen RTC
register layouts without losing DS1307 startup, and ignore poisoned future
contact timestamps during clock bootstrap.
Keep the nRF52 loop stack at 8 KiB while reducing the OTA listing call chain
from 7,832 to 6,056 static bytes. Retain all target names through lossless Full
Companion compression and the canonical size optimizer. Preserve constrained
STM32 filesystems and bind corrected ESP32 UART/OLED budgets to source size
assertions. Document the separately measured preexisting W12 package limits.
Adapted for this branch from meshcore-dev/MeshCore PRs #3521, #3340, #3362,
#2062, #3503, #3038, #3534, #3544 and #3512.
Validation: 1,829 native tests; sanitized parser, inbox, LittleFS, ACL, clock,
RTC, IRQ/FIFO and bridge fault tests; 332 additional Companion cases; real
RAK4631 Full and both repeater profiles, G2 Full/standard, V3 Full and both
constrained STM32 release recipes. Radio-family compile coverage continues
separately; W12 full/portable package guards remain enforced.
Heltec V4 timing measured 2.19 seconds for recovery checks, temporary-file cleanup, open and buffer configuration combined in one lazy-save pass. Defer those startup operations across guarded companion loops while explicit durability callers still initialize synchronously.
Track ownership only after attempting to create the temporary file, preserve unowned stale files on early cancellation, and reject premature writes or commits. Cover startup faults, interruption, mutation, cache pressure and synchronous-construction negative controls with native sanitizer tests.
Extend the cooperative contact transaction to uncached ESP32 storage,
including the PSRAM policy used by the XIAO and V4. Preserve owned contact
copies, the 152-byte disk format, revision cancellation and synchronous
durability operations. Keep contact capacities unchanged.
Avoid SDK error logs when optional blob or transaction cleanup files are
absent, while preserving metadata and deletion failure handling.
Validate cached ESP/nRF and uncached PSRAM paths under ASan/UBSan,
including bounded writes, mutation cancellation, faults, recovery and
reboot readback. Update the existing uncached production fixture.
Recover usable ESP32 preferences and channels before permitting replacement; keep identity and ACL persistence transactional and complete.
Preserve MQTT commit boundaries, restore OTA identity and policy after deferred allocation, retain radio gain retries, and reject invalid flood limits. Add production-path fault regressions and CI coverage.
Keep each deferred OTA response tied to the request's radio profile and generation. Separate requests from different radio sessions, discard stale queued responses, and retain the existing companion and infrastructure reply policies.
Reject staged captures with invalid file framing before adopting their state. Recover fixed internal-flash trailer bytes after interrupted checkpoints and handle small ESP32 delta trailers that share metadata sectors. Fail closed when install preflight cannot read a valid header, so hardware and automatic-update policy checks cannot be skipped.
Replace Companion preferences through verified file transactions and quarantine writes after incomplete loads on all platforms. Initialize serializer runtime fields before preferences snapshots copy them.
Add production-code fault regressions to CI for deferred routing, store recovery, install preflight, and preferences persistence. Validation: 1,510 native tests, 60 host checks, and six firmware targets across ESP32, nRF52, STM32, and RP2040.
Reject radio changes when receive mode cannot resume and restore the previous physical profile and power policy. Preserve selected folder OTA captures across disconnects and recoverable host I/O failures, while keeping corruption failures distinct. Validate OTA staging input before arithmetic or buffer writes and revoke published data before edits.
Commit companion channels through verified file replacement on ESP32, RP2040, and STM32, and quarantine incomplete startup reads. Recheck the last management connection during delayed wireless changes and prevent conflicting Bluetooth shutdowns. Detect complete OTA implementation sources rather than the shared inflater when configuring release builds.
Add fault-injection regressions and CI coverage for these paths, and document folder capture reconnect behavior.
Validation: 1,510 native tests; 55 host integration checks; build profile regressions; ESP32, nRF52, STM32, and RP2040 firmware builds.
Persist Companion TX preferences per contact and channel. Default repeater,
room, and sensor replies to both active TX profiles, with a reply-only force
option for an RX-only secondary profile. Track both reply copies before a
temporary-radio handoff and account for OTA copies under queue backpressure.
Add bridge/crossover filter modes and the third built-in wardriving filter,
plus compact filter CLI syntax, documentation, and CI coverage.
Fix quoted target names being interpreted as slot/key selectors, partial
recovery of invalid saved reply settings, filter suspension during tempradio2,
and unnecessary packet allocation while OTA traffic is throttled.
Validation: 1,477 native tests, 52 Python integration tests, 29 filter UI tests,
and five firmware builds covering ESP32, nRF52, and STM32 passed.
Keep stealth separate from custom, saved-random and rotating MAC policies without migrating the development MAC mode. Persist authenticated peer state, guard advertising transitions and recovery, and expose the setting through the CLI and WebConfig.
Add regression and CI checks and record exact XIAO BLE pairing, reconnect, reboot and address-rotation hardware results.
Add the framed BLE mOTA transport and companion control path, complete the full-profile build and runtime fixes, and document and test the OTA workflow.
