Use the committed node credential for setup WiFi, WebConfig and browser OTA. Add persistent ESP32 WiFi Companion management credentials without changing preferences layouts, revoke stale browser sessions on rotation, retain scoped save receipts, and coordinate credential changes with flash uploads. Keep external-service credentials and trusted TCP protocol compatibility independent. Update live join QR codes, failure handling and documentation.
Validated 51 native cases, 158 related host and browser methods, and serial Full V4 Companion, Station G3 Repeater, ESP32-C6 Room Server and V4 Sensor firmware builds.
Preserve observer discovery when forwarding is disabled while honoring hidden-node settings. Keep GPS power ownership paired and incorporate upstream GPS diagnostics.
Enroll a private channel and publisher public key on repeaters and room servers. Local Companion fleet sends sign targeted or whole-fleet commands, with expiry, durable replay protection, and a restricted command allowlist. Preserve exact transmitted-reply barriers for secondary-radio changes, bound validation and replies, and qualify crypto, persistence, transport scope, role permissions, and compact-profile exclusions with regression tests.
Keep the deployed SD target and layout, select qualified internal delta storage when no card is usable, and retain exact SD bootloader-update gates. Add storage, capability, transfer, recipe, and release-selection regression coverage.
Also preserve mandatory runtime packet logging in canonical XIAO images when verbose build debugging is disabled, fixing the four stopped release-matrix qualification failures.
Report the upload address and required network, honor AP switches on an existing uploader, and keep delayed WebConfig cleanup from disabling OTA WiFi. Preserve actionable startup errors and account for OTA in wireless state controls.
Exercise the production OTA lifecycle and stock website console, including power-saving idle sessions, in host regression tests.
Integrate PowerSaving-v17 through a27e78e4 (six new commits).
Use its 10-minute awake / 30-minute asleep companion GPS profile and
separate requested GPS state from receiver power in CLI diagnostics.
Include its nRF52 sensor debug-console settle delay and debug option.
Resolve overlapping GPS v2 changes using the current sensor callbacks,
which already implement live power-saving transitions, user-off control,
telemetry acquisition, wrap-safe sleep/wake timers and retained Airoha
RTC backup. Preserve preference persistence, telemetry cache/holds and
UART/shared-rail ownership safeguards across all four GPS drivers.
Add a compiled production GPS status regression test and run it in CI.
Validated 23 native GPS/power tests, preference and nRF52 pin contracts,
and firmware builds for T1000-E BLE Companion, MeshTracker X1 USB
Companion, Heltec Tracker Repeater, Mesh Solar Room and RAK4631 Sensor.
The hostname was built once in begin() from the node name, so `set name` left
the node advertising its old name to DHCP until the next reflash. It is now
rebuilt on rename through a new CommonCLICallbacks::onNodeNameChanged() hook,
and begin() shares the same helper.
What this cannot do is rename a live lease. IDF 4.4 states that a hostname
changed after the interface is up "would only be reflected once the interface
restarts/reconnects", and Arduino 2.x's WiFi.setHostname() does not touch a
running netif at all — it writes a static string that the netif reads at
bring-up. Forcing the issue would mean bouncing the link, which costs every
MQTT slot a reconnect; that is not a reasonable price for a rename, so the new
name lands at the next reconnect or boot instead.
Only automatic (Ethernet-preferred) links carry a hostname today, exactly as
before. Giving plain Wi-Fi observers one would change the DHCP identity of the
existing fleet and is a separate decision.
